how to set your linux's timezone

my blog post time seems not correct these days. but time is fetched from the internet, so it is verly likely caused by an incorrect timezone setting of the linux server.

type a few commands to see which timezone is set.

pi@raspberrypi:~/hexo-blog $ date
2017年 3月 4日 星期六 13:47:09 UTC
pi@raspberrypi:~/hexo-blog $ date -R
Sat, 04 Mar 2017 13:47:14 +0000

opps, the timezone is +0, but we are in china, the timezone shoud be +8

then use tzselect to set the correct timezone now!

Please select one of the following time zone regions.
1) Beijing Time
2) Xinjiang Time
#? 1
The following information has been given:
China
Beijing Time
Therefore TZ='Asia/Shanghai' will be used.
Local time is now: Sat Mar 4 21:46:15 CST 2017.
Universal Time is now: Sat Mar 4 13:46:15 UTC 2017.
Is the above information OK?
1) Yes
2) No
#? 1
You can make this change permanent for yourself by appending the line
TZ='Asia/Shanghai'; export TZ
to the file '.profile' in your home directory; then log out and log in again.
Here is that TZ value again, this time on standard output so that you
can use the /usr/bin/tzselect command in shell scripts:
Asia/Shanghai

let’s see if the time is correct now:

pi@raspberrypi:~/hexo-blog $ date -R

still incorrect! may be we should follow the instruction above, say we have to set TZ in the .profile and logout/login.
